Before this
gig, I had no knowledge of the
Parlotones
and had no idea what to expect. I
sometimes like it this way. You get to
see the personalities of the band
members and, in a decent venue with good
sound, hear the music live the way it
should be heard.

The
Parlotones were no exception to this rule, performing their
own brand of melodic South African indie rock. Neil Pauw on
drums and Glenn Hodgson on bass are a more than solid rhythm
section with Pauw showing subtle brilliance on occasion that
would probably be wasted an any non percussionist audience
members.
The standout performance though came from Kann Morbee who
was vocally excellent and gave a quirky and charismatic show
throughout. The band enjoyed one of the best audience
receptions for a support band in quite a while.
If you’re in to the likes of Snow Patrol, Feeder or even The
Fray, I’d encourage you to go and see them live while you
can still see them at smaller, more intimate venues like the
Wulfrun. |
